Two Boats on the Ocean

Two boats, though tied together

drift ever further apart in the ocean.

It is unknown what is below

and safety comes in numbers,

but the crew of both boats

are deciding whether

to rope the two boats back together,

or to let them drift even further apart

until neither crew can see the other boat.

Not even on the horizon.

No one ever makes a decision

because before that is possible

both the boats sink to the bottom.
