The man wiped the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand and smiled. He had successfully cleaned up the small square of grass that made up his back yard. Just the day before his nieces and nephews had been running around making a mess. The four chairs that surrounding his small outdoor table had all been overturned, the garden that surrounded the small square of grass was filled with toys, and some scraps from yesterday’s lunch had made their way into the grass.
And now the mess was gone, the children were gone, and the man could finally rest. He loved those kids sure, but they could sometimes be such a pain. He turned around and walked inside out of the heat of the southern sun, leaving the backyard with the four chairs, table, garden, two lamps, and tiny square of grass alone until the day the children returned.
