The Nearby Lake

Towering above the lakes edge,

a large stone sits watching the water

which ripples with the wind.

Trees, birch and evergreen

cling firmly to the stones surface

awaiting the coming of rain tomorrow.

This is a wild land, though welcome for people

to walk around and explore,

or for those who just want to have a quick swim.

Geese honk above the gentle waves

as they find a spot to land.

This is a beautiful place,

though not as beautiful as the landlocked sea

which lays far to the west.
